2008/09 Queen Alexandra Foundation Grants The Queen Alexandra Foundation raises and invests funds to support programs and activities that enhance the health and well being of children, youth and families on Vancouver Island. Each year community organizations are invited to apply for funding from the Foundation through the Community Grants Program. The following Community Grants have been awarded for this fiscal year (April 1, 2008 - March 31, 2009): Program and Developmental Grants These 2008-2009 Community Grants support the Vancouver Island Health Authority - Child, Youth & Family Services at the Queen Alexandra Centre and in Island communities. They include: | Orthotics, Seating and Prosthetics | $240,000 | | Early Intervention Program | $106,000 | | QA Summer Programs | $45,000 | | Family Support Services | $62,000 | | Community Respite | $70,000 | | School Age Program | $50,000 | |
Equipment Grants As well, the Queen Alexandra Foundation meets priority equipment needs for children and youth agencies. In 2007/08, the Foundation was able to purchase over $306,000 of equipment for use in the programs at the Queen Alexandra Centre, the West Shore Child, Youth and Family Centre and in local schools - click here to learn about some of the pieces of equipment that the Foundation purchased with your donations.
